~~ Walk for Education around the perimeter of the school property at Lake George

~~ Today will debut the live collaboration between the South Park High School Art
and Music departments.  Six senior art students will be painting to live music starting
at 5:00pm in the multipurpose room at South Park High/Middle School. Music.  Director
Geordi Walston will be performing the live music  with a variety of genres and tempos,
as HS/MS Art Instructor Julie Husher supports her senior art students.  When you arrive
you will have an opportunity to purchase a chance to win  one of the six completed

~~ Wildlife Preparedness Day of Service:
We are currently seeking
1) Red Cross volunteers
2) Organized service projects for this inaugural event.
Groups of people all across Colorado are being encouraged to put together projects
on May 4th to get ready for Wildfire season. Make your actions speak loudly –
commit a couple of hours or the entire day & see how your personal
efforts contribute
to reducing the wildfire risk in our community. Enlist the help of a friend, relative, or \
group of classmates and get something GREAT accomplished!

~~ Oral Health Education & Screenings and Fluoride Varnish at  Summit Community
Care Clinic:  This year Summit Community Care Clinic will be providing oral health
education, dental screenings, and fluoride arnish for Park County Pre-K thru 6th
Grade students with parental permission.  These screens are completed at NO
CHARGE to you or your family.  Dental screenings are performed by Summit
Community Care Clinic Hygienists and Volunteer Dentists.  Your child will be given
their screening results to bring home.  Dental screenings are NOT a complete dental
examination and you are encouraged to have your child seen by a dentist a dentist
at least once a year.  Children identified with dental needs, through the screening
program, will receive information on resources for dental treatment. For more

~~ Today starts regular registration for 2nd Annual "Pie in the Sky" to be
held on Sunday, June 23rd;  10k-20k Trail Race: 20K Run start 8:30am; 10K
Run/Walk start 8:40am; Held in historic Alma, Colorado (the highest incorporated
town in North America at 10,578 feet) Alma Trail Race: "No Pavement, No
Oxygen, Great Views!"  Entry limited to 75 racers. Course Description: 20K =
Starts in Alma (10,578 ft) and climbs up Buckskin Gulch (rough dirt road) to Kite
Lake (12,000 ft). Runners have to touch the lake before heading back down. At
mile 8 the course turns towards Windy Ridge with great views of South Park.
There is a steep but short downhill about 9  1/4 miles leading back to Buckskin
Gulch and into Alma. 10K = Starts in Alma (10,578 ft) heading up Buckskin Gulch
(rough dirt road) to Paris Mill (11,057 ft) then right towards Windy Ridge. There
is a short, steep trail heading back to Buckskin Gulch and the final home stretch
to Alma.  Aid stations = Water and Propel available at mile markers 3, 6 and 9.
Prizes:
•Locally crafted custom-made prizes to 1st male & female finishers of 10K & 20K.
•1st overall female and male age-group winners will receive home made pies.
     (Age groups = 0-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+)
•All participants will be eligible for door prizes.
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: April 1st through June 1st, 2013 via online or snail-

REGULAR REGISTRATION: June 2nd through June 22nd, 2013 via online ONLY

~~ 4th Annual Bailey HUNDO starting downtown Bailey, Colorado with the finish
area celebration on the river 2 miles south of Bailey in a private meadow. Racers
that raced the 2012 HUNDO enjoy a guaranteed entry in the 2013 race.  
Registration for Legacy racers (those who raced in 2012) begins on November
27th, 2012 and will receive a legacy code via email from PreRace.com. The Bailey
HUNDO is an Invitational, but we are accepting applications for ~100 spots open
to racers NEW to the race in 2013 starting on December 17th, 2012.  We are

~~ 2nd Annual "Pie in the Sky" 10k-20k Trail Race: 20K Run start 8:30am; 10K
Run/Walk start 8:40am; Held in historic Alma, Colorado (the highest incorporated
town in North America at 10,578 feet) Alma Trail Race: "No Pavement, No
Oxygen, Great Views!"  Entry limited to 75 racers. Course Description: 20K =
Starts in Alma (10,578 ft) and climbs up Buckskin Gulch (rough dirt road) to Kite
Lake (12,000 ft). Runners have to touch the lake before heading back down. At
mile 8 the course turns towards Windy Ridge with great views of South Park.
There is a steep but short downhill about 9  1/4 miles leading back to Buckskin
Gulch and into Alma. 10K = Starts in Alma (10,578 ft) heading up Buckskin Gulch
(rough dirt road) to Paris Mill (11,057 ft) then right towards Windy Ridge. There
is a short, steep trail heading back to Buckskin Gulch and the final home stretch
to Alma.  Aid stations = Water and Propel available at mile markers 3, 6 and 9.
Prizes:
•Locally crafted custom-made prizes to 1st male & female finishers of 10K & 20K.
•1st overall female and male age-group winners will receive home made pies.
     (Age groups = 0-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+)

wonderful addition of FIBER artists and dealers. The goal of this event is to
create a venue where bead and fiber people can sell and trade supplies, ideas,
tricks of the trade as well as sell their finished work. So we extend an invitation  
to bead artists, bead crafters and commercial bead dealers as well as fiber artists,
and fiber dealers to participate.  In this event. Your target clientele will be buyers
from the central Colorado area, tourist traffic, as well as other  beaders and
weavers, felters, and fiber artists. Located on Historic Front St. in Fairplay
Colorado 10am to 5pm Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday.  Weekend activities
will include classes at Coyote Creek Studio Arts(419 Front St.), free drawings for
prizes, lampworking demonstrations and open torch for anyone to try, juried
competition in the categories of beaded jewelry, sculptural beading, lampworking,
and other bead work. A juried fiber competition is in the works...please check back
here later. Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m., there will be a complimentary wine and
cheese happy hour along with a spaghetti dinner at the Hand Hotel for those
participating in the show.  Visitors attending the show are welcome to come to the
dinner and participate in the evening activities with an admission fee of $5.00.
Evening activities will include a bead exchange (bring one bead item wrapped) and
